Today LP is already in Holland, but let’s concentrate on yesterday’s concert that took place at The Cirque Royal in Brussels, Belgium. Conceived by architect Wilhelm Kuhnen, the building has a circular appearance but in fact is constructed as a regular polygon. It can hold 3500 spectators, and that’s how many people went to see LP Live.
Today, I would also like to start with a quote from someone who has been LP’s follower ever since she started as a very young musician, with her first band, Lionfish (for one song with LP’s vocals by Lionfish click here). BluManRay shared his thoughts with me: “Overall, it was a great show, I like the new songs, can’t wait for the album in May. The band sounds great, really tight, I like some of the extras from the drummer, pretty amazing”.
He added: “I am so happy to see the support here in Europe, I come from usa, and have seen LP many many times, different bands, different venues. I am most impressed, over the years, that LP remains vigilant and continues to maintain her core being, her true self, whether a small bar with 20 people, or sold out, 3500 people last night, she always gives her best performance”.
He also wrote: “I liked the tempo last night, the mix of songs, new, old, newer, favorites. There seemed a few snags in the equipment, but, top notch road crew was right on it”. And when I asked does he think LP recognizes him in the crowd, he said: “I would say yes, the surprise look in recognition last night was priceless”. And I think that’s the case with LP, once you will listen to her, you are sold, in return you are getting unforgettable experience, and perhaps, over time recognition in LP’s eyes as well.
LP’s setlist was pretty much the same as in Paris, with addition of new songs: “Suspicion”, and “When we’re high”. However there was another surprise for the fans in Brussels. Since Lauren is still in Europe with LP, they have decided to give a duo performance of “Dreams” – their cover of song from 1977 by Fleetwood Mac. You can listen to this duo thanks to live by Daniela, click here.
It’s not the first time for girls to cover this song, they sung it a year ago in August at Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz, there’s a youtube video, click here. Since this song is only about vocals and ukulele I have checked chords and to my surprise you only need three, but in fact LP plays only two, if I hear correctly, F & G. When you will sing at alone, you can add Am in the chorus. Like in this version.
Judging from the videos shared via Instagram or Twitter, LP was very warmly receieved in Brussels and gave an incredible show. For pictures visit Concert Monkey, here. Today LP already took part in Paaspop Festival, but I will cover that in a separate post, tomorrow.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
