With kind thank you to Bekki Milner for her coverage of ‘The end of Heart to Mouth Tour Europe” at SWG3 in Glasgow. @spookymilner: “This tour has been crazy, but nothing crazier than finishing your final uni dissertation to get your degree at 11am and seeing LP at 5.30pm. LP asked me how did I find the time – luckily we had quite lengthy train journeys between shows! And I thrive under pressure, hah! ”
“SWG3 is a maze of multi purpose venues next to railway tunnels and beautiful graffiti. The queue wasn’t so big by the time 5.30 came around for VIP entry, but the venue was full when it came to show time. Meet and greet was wonderful as always, though the venue staff taking photos wanted to make sure he got a good one.”
“He took at least 5 photos of everyone to make sure, which led to some hilarious shots with eyes closed and blurred hands. It’s appreciated though! The lights at SWG3 are super impressive by the way, and the light show tonight totally blew my mind. A few times I was just staring up at the lights in amazement.”
“Sold out, but spacious, with room to wiggle, the crowd filled the hall to the back. Powers warmed us up with their galactic love for one last time – I really am going to miss Mike and Crista. They have been super lovely at every show, and I can’t wait to hear more music from them. LP entered to an energetic and happy crowd.”
“This was my 8th show on Heart to Mouth, and every single one has had different highlights, but tonight the whole show was thrilling. Maybe because I knew it was the last time for a while, I wanted to soak it all up. My face hurt from smiling when Powers joined LP on stage to sing Girls Go Wild. Watching them all having fun and playing together was a real treat, and the love between them all could be felt from the stage.”
“LP sang the line “When we fuck now it feels like you don’t understand” at Mike, quickly followed by “We don’t fuck” much to our amusement. Before Recovery, LP spoke to the crowd some. She thanked Powers, and wished someone happy birthday – only as their birthday wasn’t today, and apparently it is bad luck to wish someone happy birthday when it isn’t their birthday, she said “Fuck you” instead, to much laughter.”
“It was weird going in to Recovery after so much laughter, but the song still held everyone raptured as soon as she started to sing. Mike also came back for Strange, a song which – if not all LP fans anthem – is definitely my anthem. I thank LP for her recognition during this song, because it means a lot to hear you sing those words to us.”
“It had to end eventually, but it’s impossible to be sad when you’re at an LP show, so high energy and full of love. Lost on You came and went too fast, with all of Glasgow singing it’s heart out with her. So many beautiful moments, so many beautiful voices. 8 shows, 5 countries, so many friends. And one huge amount of love for the one that brought us all together.”
“I didn’t want to end my post this way, but after the concert we were told that someone had got backstage and taken LP’s tambourine, so recognisable from Muddy Waters. This news is devastating, and I sincerely hope the person who took it gets their karma. I’m going to assume the person who has it doesn’t know what they have done, because any respecting fan would know.”
We are all so shocked, sad and disappointed that this happened. I can only ask again that whoever has it returns it to the venue now to get it back to its rightful owner.” Bekki, first of all thank you for always finding the time and writing so beautifully. And as for tambo, I still can’t wrap my head around what has happened.
Surely, it couldnt be a true LP-fan, cause no one would do such a thing, to this incredible, kind, patient and always with a smile person. I really hope LP will be reunited with it, and that it will happen soon. When I was giving LP a tambo as a gift in Prague, cause her old one was getting too fragile, never in my wildest dreams I would have expected such an outcome…
On a brighter note, few lovely quotes about LP & her show. @leondom1nic: “You absolutely blew my mind tonight!! thank u.” @smallspkp: “LP was so incredible live, I couldn’t stop myself from taking out the phone to snag a couple pics and videos. A night I hope to never forget.” @louisesedi: “Epic set from LP in a new to me venue.” @amymacintyre98: “An absolute angel.”
@i_shine_not_burn: “I have seen some amazing people live like raggedy legends like the toots or lee Perry and God’s of rock like foo fighters and guns and roses AC/DC to name a few and established legends like Tom petty and Steve nicks and Elton Jhon but this lady’s gig last night is one of the highlights she is a amazing vocalist and out of this world stage presence and just all around cool lass. LP that was some gig.”
@ashy_ge: “You know when you see an artist live and you can tell if they’re really talented or not? Well, I can confirm LP is the real deal. What a voice! What a concert!” @anikin0712: “Wow. No one should be this talented. What a gig. LP is amazing.” @rachel__tinkler: “Out of control how unbelievable this human being is, so much love, a fucking inspiration.”
@linzi2401: “Great night in Glasgow LP. One of the best gigs I’ve ever been too you are incredible. @kyloekid: “What a stunning way for LP to finish an incredible European tour with a blistering set at Glasgow?! She’s gives her all and more in each and every live show and is internationally respected as an exceptional performer and exceptional musician.”
“So why, oh why has someone done the unthinkable and taken her beloved tambourine from backstage? It’s travelled with her to recording studios and stages throughout the world and means everything. Please, please, please do the right thing and return it to the venue and management will make sure it’s gets back to LP. You know it makes sense.”
Last night LP finished her tour. Such a bitter taste to this otherwise incredible few weeks. Now (hopefully), LP will have a few days off, next is that intimate show in Greece (27th May) and then, I believe, LP will finally go home to take a break (though she wants to work on her next record). LP will be back in Europe in the middle of June for the Summer tour!
