On 1st June, LP played yet another sold out concert at The Sinclair in Cambridge. I will start today’s post about the opening act by Josiah and The Bonnevilles, as he and LP surprised their fans by singing a duet. They have chosen a song that caught LP’s attention I think on a very first show they have played together, because I recall it from her Insta-story. I am unsure of the title, but most likely it’s called ‘6 dollar check’. I have been trying to find this song on Josiah youtube or soundcloud for a couple of days, but without luck.

However I can share with you a video of this incredible duet in its entirety courtesy of Nicole (click here), Nicole we all owe you big-time!!! I don’t know why, but each time I listen to it, I cry. You have to listen for yourself. For full album by Nicole, click here. There are also 2 short clips on Instagram. First clip by @ashleyphebe is here and other one by @jmaliawco is here. I mentioned Josiah before, he has some great songs, my favourite ones that are available to listen on Spotify or Soundcloud are: “Cold blood”, “Lie With Me”, and “Long Gone”.

This also reminded me of the US tour LP did back in 2014. She was a supporting act for Kodaline, and during that tour Kodaline was inviting LP for a duet of “All I Want”. It’s a beautiful song, and you can listen to it here. Now it feels, like the roles are reversed, and LP is ‘giving’ back what was given to her. It’s incredible when artists support each other, without the fear of being ‘upstaged’. It gives a whole other dimension to the performance. Thank you LP & Josiah for all the feels. And to Kodaline as well, as I often listen to this duet too.
And now back to LP and her concert – I have a surprise. A couple a weeks ago I received a lovely email from my blog reader, Christine, she wrote: “Thank you SO much for your LP blog! She has changed my life, and you have worked so hard to keep us all up-to-date on LP’s tour. I appreciate your hard work, and share your love for this incredible woman. That being said, I am going to see LP on June 1 in Cambridge, Massachusetts (home to Harvard University, across the river from Boston) at The Sinclair. If you would like, I will do what I can to make a report to you about the show”.
So of course I said, yes please!! First, a little bit of trivia about the venue courtesy of Christine : “I don’t know if you know or not, but the venue is within walking distance of Harvard University! Harvard Square has always been a hangout for artistic, creative, and bohemian people. I’m putting purple streaks in my hair this afternoon and, believe me, no one will blink! (Meaning they will be totally accepting.) Cambridge is also home to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with its golden dome, and some of the smartest people in the world!”.
And here are Christine’s thoughts, right after the concert!! “Oh my God, what an amazing show!! But you already knew that about her! Ok, here’s the set list: Muddy Waters, Strange, Tightrope, Up Against Me, Other People, Switchblade, Death Valley, Levitator, Suspicion, Tokyo Sunrise, You Want it All, No Witnes, When We’re High, Lost On You. Encore: Someday & Into the Wild”.
“She seemed talkative to me, and when there was a lighting snafu, she said something to the effect of (this is not verbatim) how she likes really bright lights. Then she said (tonge in cheek) she likes to make love in the dressing room at Macy’s, under the horrible fluorescent lights, she likes to see it all!”.
“My impressions were: I keep reading people saying she sounds even better in person than in recordings, and I didn’t quite understand that, but now I do! Her voice soars, dips, and sways, carrying us away into Heaven. I found myself shaking my head in disbelief at how much talent one petite woman has. It’s obvious she works hard, and she has honed her sound to perfection”.

“One song she stopped and started over, laughing as she explained the guitarist was off-key. So he fixed it and off they went. I’ve read others saying she will do this, and it was kind of a kick to actually see it!”.
“During her greeting to Cambridge, she mentioned it’s one of the oldest cities ‘in the world’ and then realized what she’d said, and corrected herself in a self-deprecating manner, saying it’s one of the oldest cities in the country, not the world!”.
“She did a fair amount of twirling, and dancing around the stage, and was definitely putting her all into the music. She called the audience “boo-boo” a couple of times, and answered in kind when someone yelled out that they loved her. She got a couple of stuffed animals from the audience. She did her usual handshakes to the front couple of rows. We were in the balcony on her left, and she made sure to wave to us and acknowledge us. Our view was fantastic, we had a table right at the front of the balcony”. And I will also including Christine’s kind words regarding my blog: “Thank you again for all your hard work on the blog. I know it’s a labor of love, though!! Keep loving LP!”.
Christine, I don’t know what to say! You did a fabulous job and I am thankful that you have kindly shared your experience with us. I am very happy you had a fabulous time and got to see LP’s phenomenon in flesh. Thank you! And now some best quotes. Sam (@srgdancer): “@iamlpofficial was a force to be reckoned with. Also I waved at her and she waved back. My life was made”. @chechantal: “@iamlpofficial | perfection. pure undeniable perfection “. David – Michael (@nomadproducer): “It’s not enough to have talent…You must also have hunger. Thank you LP for an amazing evening. It won’t be forgotten. See you again soon & maybe in Cuba!”.
Ellen (@ellenk1078): “@iamlpofficial wow, just wow! Amazing show! Flew in from Chicago to see this because Chicago was sold out before I could get a ticket. Absolutely worth it!”. Kelley (@kelleygildea): “@iamlpofficial best show I’ve been to. You guys killed it and the energy was out of this world!! When she waved back at me and I melted into a puddle because she is my idol and the best female vocalist I’ve ever heard”. Barbara (@jetaa83): “LP loves her fans. And we love her! She is an amazing, Smart, caring, talented musician! #lp #iamlpofficial???”.

AND, I will finish my post with the most awesome news I could have asked for… Today I got a surprise call from a person I only ‘met’ briefly’ via Polish fanclub of LP: Total Freedom LP Fans. She decided to surprise me (a total stranger) with a ticket to LP show in London. The news came as I was just listening to the ‘6 dollar check’ duet & working on this post… And I thought of two quotes, one favourited by LP “The love you take is equal to the love you make”, from The Beatles song and the other one “Do good and good will come for you.” Good thing is you don’t see my make up! It’s all over my face ? Krysia, thank you. Dziękuję!
So I guess I will be seeing some of you in London! Who knew! PS. Part of the interview with LP for Diva is now online, to read it, click here. Today LP is in Buffalo, at FYE – Walden Galleria for In Store Performance & Signing.
