Ah New York, the Big Apple… That’s where it all started for LP and somehow ended. Now her life is more connected to LA, but it’s safe to say that New York is and always will be a big part of her. One of my favourite songs of LP is ‘Your Town’ (about New York), I love the version she sung for Crave On Stage back in 2014, in which LP talks about origins of the song (for video click here). But let’s get back to yesterday’s show (30th May) and I will start with Lauren Ruth Ward as she and Josiah and The Bonnevilles have both opened for LP at The Bowery Ballroom.
Again, not sure how long Lauren’s set was, but she is getting some new fans and praises for her shows and stage presence. If you are a fan of Lauren, I recommend checking Alexandria (@gingergypsygirl) Instagram profile. She posted few nice pics & short video clips of her performance. She also wrote: “My soul can’t take it! ? @laurenruthward you are a #goddess ❤ “. @maidenfan777: “@laurenruthward what an amazing performance. You guys kicked ass tonight… Also like to thank @laurenruthward and @josiahandthe less the bonnevilles for exciting the crowd. You guys kicked ass. Always nice when a Long Island girl makes magic happen. ✌?✌?✌?✌?”.
And now LP, she gave an icredible show and received a LOT of love in return! Gary (@thesugaryman) wrote: “It’s been a year and a half or so since I last met up with @iamlpofficial and last night @boweryballroom in front of a sold out hometown crowd I was just completely blown away by her performance. Song after song was a triumph of both spirit and brilliance. She left it all on the stage and is truly one of the greatest voices and talents (not to mention human beings) I have ever come across. It is a privilege to call you a dear friend. Congratulations!!! You really are one of a kind and I am SO proud of you! For those that have never experienced her live, please do yourself a favor and do it soon…it’s just THAT good…and you know I don’t say this stuff lightly or without personal commitment ;-)”.
Stephanie (@steph_watanabe): “Holy shit. @iamlpofficial, you rocked our world tonight. Your talent is quite simply…humbling. Thank you! ❤”. Blake (@blakepfeil): “The talent of this woman is beyond comprehension. True fucking rockstar, @iamlpofficial – thank you thank you thank you”. @maidenfan777: “@iamlpofficial what an amazing show at the @boweryballroom”.
Ashley (@ashleymrock): “Looks like Nora Ephron, sounds like an angel, moves like Jagger. Sexy little Tunesday with @iamlpofficial ?”. Kristina (@kristina_gershteyn): “You rocked my world @iamlpofficial absolutely incredible! ? once in a lifetime experience in the presence of this incredible human”. Carmidny (@carmindybeauty): “What an epic singer @iamlpofficial such a voice! WOW! Great night at #Boweryballroom”. Kevin (@kevinnewbury): “LP at the Bowery last night. One of the best new voices I have heard in years! Check her out. Girl can SING”.
Kelly (@kellysheerins): “… thank you @iamlpofficial for the constant source of raw, real, inspiration ????”. @maxmiesemer: “@iamlpofficial personifies awesome”. Tony (@tonyosso): “@iamlpofficial blew the roof off the joint last night @boweryballroom”. Collin (@sirblackmamba): “#LostInYou is both my favorite #album and #song of 2017 thus far. Since I’m seeing this extremely talented vocalist and #songwriter named ‘LP’ live tonight – HAD to get a pic with her backstage. YOU need to get into her album! #AllTheFeels”.
Natalie Moore (@nrmoore): “Had my entire world rocked by @iamlp tonight at #BoweryBallroom — what an amazing talent. ?❤ Thanks for an unforgettable show”. Tony Stark (@aPoet27): “Still not over the fact that I got to witness @iamlp live. Life is so good right now! @iamlp Fucking insane show. Thank you! P.s. you and your girlfriend are goals!”. Stef (@stefschiano): “Such an amazing experience last night !!! @iamlpofficial you were wonderful!!! Thank you for taking a picture with me ❤”. UPDATE: Nicole L. Augenti posted many videos of LP’s concert to her Facebook, here.
And an honorable mention must go today to Michelle (@daredevilmichelle), owner of @DaredevilTattoo. Michelle is a tattoo artist responsible for, I think, LP’s most famous tattoo, that stunning ship on her chest. Michelle knew LP for about 10 years and did other tattoos for her as well. She got to see LP yesterday and that’s what she wrote after her concert: “Got to see my friend @iamlpofficial play at Bowery Ballroom tonight. LP is an amazing songwriter, has quite the voice, plays #ukulele better than anyone I know and always picks fun tattoos”.
Michelle also kindly answered on my questions: “The ship tattoo was the most recent tattoo I did for LP. It was inspired from an old sailor tattoo. We have a tattoo museum at our shop @DaredevilTattoo and we have a lot of traditional antique tattoo flash in the collection that LP could look at to choose from”. When I asked if she also did other tattoos, including the blue star, Michelle wrote: “it’s been a lot of years I can’t remember which all we’ve done haha goes back prolly over 10 years or so since I first tattooed her. We did some birds, I think we did an eagle maybe a heart I can’t remember if we did a star. It’s been a long time”. Thank you Michelle for your kind answers!
And a few updates. Chicago Pride published an interview with LP, as always interesting read (⇒ here). LP shared in it an interesting tidbit, about her song that was cut by Backstreet Boys: “My mother passed away when I was young. I didn’t know what to do with my life. I decided to do something I loved, which was not something I was brought up to do. I went to school because I had to and was taught to do something that would make a lot of money. That was my dad’s whole thing. It was about what he wished he had done with his life… I became a musician not knowing anything. I tried to make my way… Anyways, the Backstreet Boys was my first big cut. Ironically I wrote it on the day my father died, which is insane. I never really thought about that”. Title of the song is “Love Will Keep You Up All Night”, you can listen to it here.
Today LP will be guest of Radio 104,5 at 1pm. That’s 7 pm for those in Europe. I hope that some sort of live feed will be provided (update, yes, there will be!). LP visited this radio & performed at the Winter Jawn 2017, during her US winter promo tour back in January. Really looking forward to this live session! And finally, In Store Performance & Signing with LP that has been cancelled few weeks ago due to really bad weather, has been rescheduled to Friday, June 2nd at 5:30pm at FYE – Walden Galleria. Info here.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
