“One Last Time” is the third single from LP’s highly anticipated album to be released later this year (around September unless covid fucks things up yet again). “One Last Time” is accompanied by a new video co-starring actor/filmmaker/model Jaime King which officially premiered yesterday on LP’s official YouTube channel.
A passionate powerhouse, “One Last Time” pulls at the heartstrings while lifting the listener up to sing and dance along. It is both a reflection and a celebration, with poignant verses swelling to a joyous and anthemic, stadium-sized, sing-along chorus.
LP wrote “One Last Time” in Athens, Greece (May 2019), and then in San José del Cabo, México, with longtime collaborator Mike Del Rio (co-writer and producer). Also receiving co-writing credit on “One Last Time” is LP’s talented live guitar player Alex Feder.
Additional track production was at Mike’s studio – Hotel Havana in Highland Park, L.A. The song was mixed by Manny Marroquin and mastered by multi-Grammy winner Emily Lazar. Complementing the song is an enthralling new video, co-starring as LP’s lover, her friend Jaime King.
Shot at the opulent and historic Paramour Estate in Los Angeles, the spellbinding clip marks the directorial debut Stephen “Norswrthy” Schofield, who is originally known for the work his photo duo LOWFIELD created with Halsey, Pharrell, Taylor Swift, and others.
The video is stunningly shot, it has this big cinematic feel to it, with nostalgia to old Hollywood glamour and a bit of Gatsby inspiration. Jaime perfectly captured the emotions (those last moments are just amazing) but LP was equally powerful. That scene where she is carried out by two goons is perfection!
For those wondering who played opposite LP and Jaime, here’s full list of characters. Dinner scene extras: Alejandra Moreno (musician, singer/songwriter) with Alex Feder (musician/singer/songwriter/LP’s guitarist). Crista Russo with Mike Del Rio (musicians, they have band Powers).
Gabby Maiden (professional snowboarder/actress/singer/songwriter) and Sarab Singh (drummer/music producer). Talayeh Nasirzadeh (LP’s friend and a private assistant) with Tara Harring (barber). Goons: Jason Dowd (musician) and Nick Bobetsky (artist manager at State of the Art).
If you’d like to learn more about the video and how it came to life, there’s a great article at People Magazine with lots of awesome quotes from LP & Jaime. The story of how they both met and became friends is very touching and so familiar to a lot of LP fans.
Or that fragment where Jaime recalls how many people stood dead in their tracks first hearing LP’s voice, even if it happened on the street. It really is a power of music, but most of all, it’s a power of LP’s voice and charisma. People’s article is a must read – click here.
Then LP also did several live-streams in which she was accompanied by Mike, Alex and a director of the video. First one was via Instagram, here she was joined by both Alex and Mike. Next LP was live on Tik Tok, it was a first live for LP on this platform, I screen-recorded it as sadly TikTok doesn’t save live videos.
Finally there was also live via YouTube, here LP was accompanied by both Stephen and Mike. Those are the most important links. But it’s just a beginning of a promo machine, I’m sure there’s a lot more interviews and articles to come in recent days.
As always, make sure to follow me on my social media as that’s where you will be updated on more regular basis. And please, do share with me how you liked the video and what you loved the most about it.
