After a rest day, during which LP and Lauren were able to catch their friends’, Vista Kicks’ gig (who are also on tour at the moment), LP performed at 9.30 Club in Washington. This club was originally housed in the ground floor rear room of the Atlantic Building at 930 F Street NW, where it opened on May 31, 1980. As a special feature, the club, with capacity for up to 1,200 people, has a wheeled stage mounted on rails, which can be moved back and forth as needed. This way, the place can feel as packed with 500 people in attendance as it would during a sold-out, full capacity show.
So another bigger venue since last year’s US tour, when LP performed at the U Street Music Hall, as noted not only by me, but one of the concert goers too, Logan Dobson (@LoganDobson): “The @930Club is pretty packed like 2 hours before @iamlp which is impressive for someone I saw at the much-smaller U Street music hall last year.” Huge congrats! It was also funny to see Vista Kicks enjoying LP’s gig from the balcony. And few more quotes, starting with this cool one by Jeanette (@jeeanetta): “Her voice reverberates beyond the walls of any venue. “Night Like This” has assuaged so many hard times, and for that, I’m always thankful for this artist. #LP.”
Amanda (@amandapedrick): “@iamlpofficial was mind blowing!” Amanda (@lindoobolite): “I love watching people do what they love. I first listened to @iamlpofficial when I was doing my PhD in Fairbanks, Alaska. It felt surreal seeing/listening to her in my new city! She sounds even better live and makes you feel like she’s singing only to you. ? Thanks for sharing your talent to DC, #LP.” Gabriela (@longlivethegaby): “LP is fucking breathtaking!!!” BKL (@llucydc): “@iamlpofficial the absolut fucking best. We love you.” Milo (@mxunniebunnie): “Hell of a show!! @iamlpofficial.”
Daria (@lady__da): “I was waiting for this concert like kids are waiting for a Christmas Morning. And it was so much more than i expected! I have no doubt that this tiny, childish, boyish, and incredibly talented singer will be HUGE very very soon! I wish that for her with all my heart and truly believe in that. If you haven’t heard “my” LP @iamlpofficial You are missing something beautiful in you life!” Jessica (@jessicafishburne): “Forgot to breathe during this beauty. Reesa (@killermutantotters): “LP at 9:30 Club. Her voice is is otherworldly.”
Amber (@tinyandtenaciousfitness): “Had an awesome time last night seeing LP with my bro! ? Her vocal range and control are out of this world. If you haven’t listened to her, do so immediately. Better yet, go see her live. She’ll blow your mind! ?.” Ardence (@spockamole): “What a beautifully overwhelming ride tonight was. I finally got to see @iamlp in concert and my soul will never be the same.” Eli (@elistokols): “Mick Jagger presence and an unforgettable vibrato. LP is incredible. Although @eschneider117 was bummed she didn’t do her ‘Halo’ cover.”
Lisa (@TheOneTrueLisa) went to Washington as well and here are her words: “Tonight we had the pleasure of seeing our LP at the legendary 9:30 Club in Washington DC. Before she took the stage, I spotted her in the balcony recording Noah on her phone. She is easily identifiable in her now-famous yellow jacket. It didn’t seem as if anyone else noticed her up there! The setlist was the same as NY and Philadelphia, but we all got a little extra thrill when LP announced that Lauren and some of her family were in the balcony.”
Lisa also recorded ‘Recovery’, you will find it here. I love it how first people talk but soon they simply shut up and enjoy her amazing voice! And here is sweet video of another LP fan who got to sing “Strange” with LP after her show. She’s simply THE best! And few more links for you. Gallery of pics and review of LP’s performance at MTelus is here. Another gallery can be found here. And one more gallery of the same performance (+ french review) is here. Today is another free day, and tomorrow LP will be at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
