Yesterday, October 10th, LP took part in Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST Pink October Benefit Show in Woodstock, NY. Those who follow LP and her career closely, know that issue of breast cancer is close to her heart. LP lost her mum to breast cancer as a young girl, and this surely had an incredible impact on LP not only then, but on her adult life as well. It’s also not the first time for LP to support this cause. Just last year in November 2016, LP took part in Cadena 100 Por Ellas – solidarity concert which benefits went to the Spanish Association Against Cancer for the fight against breast cancer.
Pink October is breast cancer awareness month. Every October many institutions, companies and organizations “dress up” in pink; across the globe, important buildings are lit up in pink and multiple sporting events turn to the color pink. These activities all have one common goal: to raise awareness about the importance of breast cancer prevention measures like mammography screening. Most of these efforts also aim to participate in the fight against breast cancer through financial support and donations benefiting breast cancer research institutions.
Yesterday, was the 19th Annual Pink October Fundraiser, presented by Radio Woodstock Cares Foundation. It is Radio Woodstock Annual drive to raise money for breast Cancer Research and patient services in the Hudson Valley. 100% of the net proceeds of the ticket sales will be donated by the Radio Woodstock Cares Foundation, a licensed corporation, to local breast cancer care, research facilities and hospitals in the Hudson Valley. During the month of October at Radio Woodstock you can also purchase a Pink Hour for a loved one and or dedicate it to someone who is fighting Breast Cancer.
Pink October Benefit show with LP, took place on the Utopia Sound Stage. It was also an acoustic show – which when it comes to LP is a must see – especially in such an intimate setting. There’s no better way to get to know her musically like during such show. On stage LP was accompanied only by her new guitarist, John Notto and best drummer ever, Elias Logothetis. During the show LP was interviewed by Gattine of Radio Woodstock. You can view some parts of the interview on my youtube (here), video courtesy of Nicole Lauren Augenti, who attended the show, shared her pics and even wrote few words about the gig.
Nicole: “It was wonderful to see (and greet and hug!) LP last night in Woodstock, New York (yes, THAT Woodstock). We were treated to an acoustic set along with interview by Radio Woodstock to benefit and raise awareness for Pink October (events which help women fight breast cancer). It was an incredibly intimate show – maybe only 100 people were there. As undeniably talented as LP is, its her honestly, humility and genuine heart that makes you fall in love with her – and stay there. LP brought that vulnerability in spades to the room last night. “Switchblade” stunned and tore at the heartstrings of everyone in that small room. People who had never seen her live before last night couldn’t believe what they heard – I saw a lot of speechless people after the show! To get the chance to see an up close and a stripped down show which lets you connect with LP on a more personal level is a very special, emotional and unforgettable experience. One I hope to have again someday. To LP: Thank you for being you”. Nicole, thank you so much for your wonderful words! And, I couldn’t agree more!
And few more quotes, Melissa (@melissakuzma): “Tonight I met my favorite singer of all time and one of my idols, @iamlpofficial. Immediately after this picture was taken, she hugged me (she’s so tiny!) and I started hysterically crying (I’m still crying!). One of the greatest moments of my life!”. This reminded me so much of my London meeting, LP has such an incredible impact on people she meets. She’s truly one of a kind. @radiowoodstock: “@iamlpofficial is blowing us away in the #utopiasoundstage tonight. Thanks for being an incredible part of our #pinkoctober fundraising efforts!”. @abbottlimo: “#gattine at the LP show was very entertaining, she is a #blessed #angel”.
I’m certain, this was an unforgettable concert, something similar to London gig, though even more intimate. LP sounded beautifully, she sang ‘Other People’, ‘Up Against Me’, ‘Into The Wild’, ‘Death Valley’, ‘Switchblade’, ‘No Witness’, ‘Suspicion’, ‘When We’re High’ and ‘Lost On You’. Also Radio Woodstock will be sharing a gallery of this event at their website in due time. As a trivia, LP visited Radio Woodstock back in 2012, you can still view video of ‘Into The Wild’, recorded during that visit. Click here. Today LP is taking part in Pink Party 2017 at Statler City Grand Ballroom in Buffalo, NY.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
