Yesterday (June 09th) LP took the stage at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. The building which now houses Lincoln Hall first opened as the Fullerton Theatre in 1912. The building has held a garage and machine shop, the Crest Theatre and, most recently, The 3-Penny Cinema. Lincoln Hall was opened as a music venue in 2009 with a performance by Mike Doughty. The capacity is 507, divided between the main floor and the balcony. But that’s enough of history and trivia.

First, let’s start with ‘Muddy Waters‘ and ‘Into The Wild‘, fresh from Chicago. This performance was recorded by ‘the1stMikeC’, who became instant fan of LP right after her performance at Bottom Lounge Chicago back in February. He recorded full set that day and posted it on youtube (here). He also got a Special Edition White Vinyl “Lost on You”. As for yesterday’s concert, he shot the entire show, but (as he explained), “the stage lighting was bad for video. I will be editing it and posting a compilation video of best parts”.
Today, I would like to stop for a little bit and write about ‘Into The Wild’ – last night’s encore. This song is very important when it comes to LP and her career. This song literally put LP back on ‘artist’s map’ around 2011 when it was featured in a Citibank commercial. The song received vast exposure in the commercial, as it had millions of plays on YouTube. It was released as a single on May 29, 2012 through Warner Bros. Records.. It’s also the very first song where LP used her whistling.
LP was disappointed at first, when she realized that the Citibank used only the pre-chorus in the commercial, because in her opinion the chorus was stronger, but that’s how the most famous line of ‘Into The Wild’ became: “Somebody left the gate open”. On February 24, 2012, a version of “Into the Wild” recorded in the historic EastWest Studios in Hollywood was released to promote LP’s live EP. In 2015 LP re-recorded studio version of ‘Into The Wild’ that was featured in her 2014 ‘Forever For Now’ album.
I believe she never liked the original version recorded by Warner Bros., as in her oppinion, this whole album was overproduced. LP hated that too much ‘production’ was used on her voice, (to her, when her voice is overproduced and polished, it sounds fake and phoney), while on her last record she feels that her voice sounds as it should, raw and real. So if you have LP’s latest record ‘Lost On You’, you are experiencing the 2015 ‘edition’ of ‘Into The Wild’. If you have ukulele, you can play it along with LP as chords are easy, the strumming may need a bit of practicing, but it’s fun to play! I recommend visiting ‘LP Chord’ website, where you will find chords to most songs by LP.
And now the time has come for some of my favourite quotes. James (@jpaek): “The voice on this artist… ?… And man does she have a mean whistle… @iamlpofficial … & @jdavidcarrera your guitar tones and #pedalsteel skills though… #rocknroll #LP”. Meg (@beaverhaus3n): “LP was a darling! I can’t believe we got to meet her! ? This was a night to remember”. Addie (@addie__t): “Simply in awe, LP”. Erin (@erinobrienyoga): “Good lawd @iamlpofficial, you are goddamn remarkable #lp #lincolnhallchicago #thatvoice #thatwhistle”.
Alexis (@tasialexis): “@iamlpofficial rocked my world tonight. Tears, so many tears”. Michalina (@moonchild_michalina): “She’ll make you weep”. Carlos (@losomatic): “You were fucking amazing!!!”. Karen (@karenayla): “Amazing show ! Thank You #LP”. Rebecca (@rmanske11): “LP is unbelievable. Such an amazing and beautifully unique voice!”. Sadly that’s all for now. Not much, but better this than nothing. If anything else will pop out I will update this portion of the post.
Update: LP was also reunited with her friends in Chicago. Danny G. (@thatsgoodman): “Great catching up with this woman last night. Not a bad show too , ??. @iamlpofficial”. Danny is a photographer, and he got to photograph both LP & Lauren back in 2016 in Paris. @bonadrag: “Got to see one of my all time favorites and great friend @iamlpofficial last night with my beautiful fiancé @iluvrightnow ?? Thanks for making it a killer date night✌️Safe travels dear”.
Also, there are two new video-interviews with LP, both recorded in Montreal, during this tour. First one for The Kelly Alexander Show, in which LP Talks about Ukeleles, Katy Perry & Goat Yoga! To view it click here. And another one for Tapis Rose, titled ‘LP the magnificent’, can be found here. Today LP will take part in LIVE 105 BFD 2017 Festival. LP starts her set at Bud Light Festival Stage at 14.10 local time. That’s 23.10 my time, so my next post will be up tomorrow. Only three more shows and this tour is over! ? It’s really hard to believe. And in exactly 2 weeks at this exact time, LP will be taking stage at Polish Festival and I will be there! Yay me!
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
