LP arrived to Novi Sad in Serbia on July 11, her free-from-the-show day. It was her first visit to this country. Yesterday she was one of the main artists opening Exit Festival – an award-winning summer music festival that was officially proclaimed the ‘Best Major European festival’ at the EU Festival Awards, which were held in Groningen in January 2014. The EU Festival Award is considered as one of the most prestigious festival awards in the world.

The festival was founded in 2000 in the University park as a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans. After the Yugoslavian general election in 2000, Exit moved to the Petrovaradin fortress in 2001. Nonetheless, social responsibility is still key aspect of the festival activities. Exit Festival has gained international media attention over the years.

LP performed on the Main Stage of the Exit Festival, which is situated at the very heart of Petrovaradin Fortress (also known as “Gibraltar on/of the Danube”), with its capacity of over 35,000 people and a scenic natural backdrop. Judging from the pictures and Insta-stories shared by LP herself, her band and crew members, everyone had a blast. It was one of the biggest festivals & stage LP has ever performed on.

And as promised, few words about the gig from Andrea of @lp_serbia: “Set list was same as in London except they didn’t play “Recovery”, and they played “Levitator” form the middle of a song. They were late for about ten minutes. LP was in a good mood, dancing and jumping on the stage, flirting with a crowd, smiling a lot. Her voice was in a top form. She sounded really good.”

“There was this funny moment during Muddy Waters when she threw her tambourine over her head and the instrument almost fell off the stage 🙂 Right after the performance, Serbian fans had a meet and greet with her backstage, it was short cuz they had to leave right away, they had a plane to catch. LP was very kind and sweet toward us, she took photos with us and autographed some stuff.”

“After we left, she noticed about 20 people at the entrance that were standing there and waiting for her. She approached them and took some photos with them too. That was very sweet of her. At the end, I do not have much to say, except that she amazes me more and more each time I listen to her live. And now after I met her in person I only can say that I’ve never met so genuine, pure and kind human being like her.” Amen to that, Andrea!
I also wanted to add that after the concert LP met with Ana Brnabić, Serbian politician who has been the Prime Minister of Serbia since 29 June 2017. She is the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office. Ana has been working for over ten years with international organizations, foreign investors, local self-government units, and the public sector in Serbia. She holds an MBA diploma of the University of Hull.

The two women previously met on a day before the concert, during LP’s flight from London to Serbia. It was the Prime Minister who recognized LP and approached her, and in return LP invited Ana to her concert in Novi Sad. You can read an article and view images of that meeting by clicking here. LP was also interviewed by Jelena Sotirović for TV N1 Sarajevo. For now there’s only written interview, but full video should be posted shortly to N1 TV. For article click here.

Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
