LP from America at the Mole: << I love Italy here I find my roots>>
A warm summers’ evening, a beer in hand and a party atmosphere, LP has no doubts, the beauty of summer are festivals. When it comes to combining the climate of great concerts out in the open with Italy, in this case Rome and Ancona, well it almost seems that work becomes a pleasure stay. LP, Laura Pergolizzi , a singer-songwriter originally from New York will be at the Mole Valtelliniana of Ancona on Wednesday for the Spilla festival, a mini review of music of great quality.
Laura, happy to come back to Italy?
“Very much, I love Italy, all of Europe is wonderful, but I have Italy in my heart, also because it’s the origins of my family”.
After the concert will you be able to stop for a few days of vacation?
“Ah, holidays in Italy, I wish! No, I have concerts and work commitments…Unfortunately I will have to leave immediately.”
Will you play at the Spilla of Ancona festival… do you know anything? I guess not.
“Actually, no! I’m sorry.”
[not sure when this interview took place, as LP will play at Spilla Festival in Ancona on the 27th June].
Ancona is a small city, but in the summer it is very beautiful and you can watch the sunrise and the sunset over the sea… the place where you will play, the Mole is literally surrounded by sea, boats and fishing boats.
“Both sunrise and sunset? Wow, I cannot wait to be there, and I love playing at festivals. Summer evenings, people having fun outdoors, drinking some beer. It’s an atmosphere that I particularly like, work becomes a pleasure, we are all more relaxed, both us and the public .”
Speaking of playing, what kind of shows will you bring to us?
“I’ll do some new songs, but also the songs that people love. I want to entertain everyone and I want to feel good with my band.”
(The singer opens the Spilla festival on Wednesday)
She has been to Sanremo [festival], but many compare her to Joan Jett.
How do you combine pop with its side of more personal rock?
“I think it’s not a question of gender or etiquette, it is more a question of what you write and that it reaches the public.
You don’t even know how. Perhaps it’s because when writing I put a lot of me into it and this strikes.”
I know you love opera
“Very much. I listened to it at home and I listen to it still. Unfortunately I don’t understand the words, but the music speaks for itself.”
There is no need to understand the words. It’s always about love stories, a little like Rock.
“Yes, it’s just the same. At the end opera is rock.”
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
