Today I will take a look at ‘It’s All Good’ – song that debuted in Bucharest, Romania during Full Moon Festival in September 2016 and sadly after its debut it was never to be heard again – at least to this day. However thanks to social media we’ve found out about it. Sadly the quality of the videos with it are less than desirable, but it didn’t stop me & other people as well, to fall in love with the melody of it. When I was preparing questions for my interview with LP, questions that had to be limited in number, I just felt I had to ask about it, and LP in all her wisdom and kindness has opened her heart and given us a very detailed and insightful answer. I will quote it here, just to remind you the story of this song.
A: My next question is, we are all fans of your song “It’s All Good”, you only sang it in Romania I think?
LP: So you think I should put that on the next record?
A: YES!
LP: You know it’s funny I wrote that song actually with a woman that I wrote “Someday” with, from Florence + The Machine [Isabella Summers], and that was also a song that I wrote in that time period [Summer 2014] I remember I was in England and I was really, I was bummed up.. Me and my ex we were going down, I just feel it, I knew it… And we were in London (A: at that time?), yeah… We were gonna go, I hope I’m not mixing times, but we were gonna go to this wedding, we were all gonna go to this wedding that was our very good friends’ wedding and I remember that I also wrote a song that we called ‘Dreamcatcher’, which (A: we haven’t heard)… No, I’d love to put that on. It’s like, yeah I have a very vivid memory of being in Suffolk, England at this wedding and it was at this beautiful cottage that had like a church in the middle of countryside in Suffolk. And I was listening back to some of the stuff I’ve done that week, including like this ‘Dreamcatcher’ song. And I remember I was sitting alone in the room and this song is very sad and I knew it was coming from like the pit of despair, it’s like very sad… And she came into the room and I was like kind of crying and it was weird cause she just knew what I was upset about, you know, we were together, but the shit was fucked up. And I just remember “It’s All Good” was in that period and it was like, I was like, I have this like a whole bunch of songs where I try to make myself feel better, it’s like you get me out of sad situation. That’s why a lot of my songs are trying like kinda be “it’s ok! Don’t worry about it” because I’m always trying to say that to myself”…
A: Ah, ok I understand. We really like it and we are hopeful that it will be on the record.
LP: I think I also didn’t do it, because I was having trouble getting into sound right with the band but I’ll work on that if you guys think it’s good.
A: Yes, we think it has enormous potential!
LP: Yeah?! Yesss…
That’s what LP said about this song during concert in Romania: “I feel like I wrote this song – this is a kinda new stuff, and it just feels like I wrote it and it kind of came true. It’s just like one of those things that like it was…, it’s called ‘It’s All Good’, and I was trying to make myself feel better, sometimes I do that in a song, it’s just like it means nothing but it feels good”… Video of this song can be found here. Here‘s live from the Full Moon Festival, story about this song starts at about 19.00 minutes.
For now it is tagged under: ‘songs that never made it into any record’, but I do hope this will change, also for the ‘Dreamcatcher’ as those are truly special.
I was also trying to decode its lyrics, but with such sound and only one performance it has proven to be very hard, however here’s my draft of the possible lyrics, maybe you can help me with it?
Possible lyrics
Restless all the time
filled up all the whisky and wine
Braver hearts prevail
on this great adventure of mine
Somewhere along the line
I threw it to the wind
I decided I would climb
Decided I would win
Didn’t I take the time
Didn’t I always say
Beckon to the unknown no fear
don’t turn away
Didn’t I walked the wild side
Didn’t I pay the cost
Now everyday is freedom
and evil dare not cross
And it’s cruel
a chance you loose
I’ll play the fool again
break all the rules again gladly
It’s all good x3
You’re Alright
Tether torn away
Highway full of motels for days
No one coming home
Guess a wanderer I’ll stay
Didn’t I make the time
Didn’t I hear the call
Welcome to the nightlife?
My back against the wall
Didn’t I go to war
Didn’t I beat the world
Didn’t I make it rain
And I’d it all again
And it’s cruel
a chance you loose
I’ll play the fool again
break all the rules again gladly
It’s all good x3
You’re Alright
<whistle>
Somewhere along the line
I threw it to the wind
Decided I would climb
Decided I would win
It’s all good x3
You’re Alright
