Today a little bit more about that famous and seductive song from ‘Brunch with Bridget’ interview that was published on the 7th November 2009. I’m pretty sure, LP doesn’t look back at that time with fondness, as it was right after her two record deals didn’t yield any record, even though one was to be released in January 2009. But that sadly never happened. At that time, LP also had to transition from being recording singer, to song-writer. From singing and touring, she had to lock herself in a room with a bunch of people and write as many songs as possible, and not for her, but for others…

But it was also the time, when LP bought her first ever ukulele and when you watch the video – interview of “Brunch with Bridget“, LP says that she has been playing the instrument for only 2 weeks as she just got it. So in this interview we hear her first ever song written for, and played on ukulele. And that’s why *I* love this interview so much, because we all know that this tiny thing brought back LP joy of music, as she said herself in 2014: “But it just honestly made me fall in love so hard with music. I think that’s why I’m an artist again, because it opened this door of joy for me.” To learn more about LP & her ukulele, I wrote a post a while back, you will find it here.

We don’t know much about this song, as LP sung it only that one time, it was never recorded and I was looking like mad for chords to it, however without any luck. I learnt most of LP’s songs looking at her hands from live performances, but this video was tricky, as you cannot really see her hands. But I met someone who ‘hears’ the music and he finally made my dream of knowing the chords to this song, come true. Alex Mouron (as that’s the man himself) reached out to me with the idea of setting a website with lyrics & chords to LP’s songs. And that’s how we ended up talking about Brunch with Bridget song. Anyway, without further ado, here are the lyrics, which I have written some time ago. I am quite certain they are correct apart from the first line in the Bridge.
‘Brunch With Bridget’ song by LP
That look you shot me
I wait for that
I’ll take you slowly
down the path
(and) oh, when it’s all wrong
it’s only right
oh, stay with me if only for tonight
Baby, you won’t be happy
till I’m crawling your way
Hold me, I can see you want to
Tear it down, the way you want to
Break me, break me out and free me
I’m ready for your love,
I’m ready for your love.
You whisper swiftly, just relax
You run your fingers, down my back
Oh, and I can see the storm is rolling in
Oh, and I don’t need to see the sun again.
Baby, you won’t be happy
till I’m crawling your way
Hold me, I can see you want to
Tear it down, the way you want to
Break me, break me out and free me
I’m ready for your love,
I’m ready for your love.
And as I’m falling towards the ground
Oh, I see it all so clearly now.
Baby, you won’t be happy
till I’m crawling your way
Hold me, I can see you want to
Tear it down, the way you want to
Break me, break me out and free me
I’m ready for your love,
I’m ready for your love.
As for the chords, you will need those:
for verse: Am, F, Dm, G
for chorus: F, E, Am, G, C, C6
Here‘s link to the song on Alex’s website, where you will learn when to change the chords. Here‘s link to Alex’s main website, it’s still a work in progress as Alex just started it very recently, but he keeps adding lyrics & chords. I’m sure you will find it very useful! Thank you Alex for your help!
In other news, reminder that tonight, LP will be a musical guest of James Corden. Also, two new interviews with LP. First one for ‘Something About‘, I really enjoyed that one, especially a little info on the background of ‘You Want It All’ song. Btw, there are also few cool shots of LP. Another one is for ‘Idolator‘, and again, it’s a great read as you will learn from it about latest LP’s collabs. Enjoy!
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
