On July 24th LP arrived to Turin in Italy along with Lauren and the band, it was a day free-from-the-show, so they all could do a little bit of sightseeing and simply relax. On the next day, July 25, LP took part in GruVillage Festival – LP was the main star of the evening with the opening act by Oregon Trees from Italy. The festival, at its 12th edition in 2017, has become a cultural and entertainment benchmark of the summer in Piedmont.
Judging from the pics and videos, prior to the show LP met with her Italian fanclub and received a homemade Eggplant Parmigiana with pecorino and Limoncello (tipical italian dish and liquor). According to LP, Eggplant Parmigiana is her favourite food! So this dish was even featured in her Insta-story and judging from the video it must have been really gooood! Congrats to @laurawind4 who took the time and prepared it.
LP also received a beautiful signet ring with ship from @lpandlaurensfamily. I think it was handed to her during the concert. Also judging from her Insta-story LP was flooded with all kinds of gifts from her fans. She is very much loved and receives many gifts along the way, always with a smile and a kind thank you. Some fans are being carried away sometimes and occasionally she is getting bras or even undies during her concerts. Last night someone threw a bra at her, which LP catched as a pro and hung it on her tripod. For video click here.
I wanted to start with the quotes, but what Grisù wrote left me in tears, so I will start with her voice: “It was a heady mix of emotions to see LP performing on the stage last night, and above all, to listen to her voice. She’s just awesome! She has amazing vocals and I love her passion, her ability to concentrate, her breathtaking urge to connect with people. You can see second by second her willful and systematic search to get in touch with people. She can find the invisible wire that joins people, sometimes softly, like spring rain that falls quietly, sometimes powerfully, like a volcanic eruption”.
“LP sings, dances, plays, smiles, walks, signs autographs, grabs gifts, give thanks…all at the same time. The best multitasker ever. She makes it sound so pleasant and easy, but really it’s a hard work, it requires absolute concentration, dedication and mental toughness. You cannot buy class. It was an unforgettable night”.
“When the first notes of “Muddy Waters” song electrified the windy night of Grugliasco, shaking the people’s hearts, I felt like a tree bent by a storm. The concert beginning is always one of my favorite moments, during the first 30 seconds I can feel the blood flowing pleasantly in my veins. The sound vibrated the air, the air vibrated the hearts. “In the muddy water we’re falling”: oh, I want to fall into this alienating and poignant mood, I want this twilight sleep never to end…”.
“Then, with “Other people” the “holistic” experience started. I was totally unprepared for what happened next, once again: rational perception decreased, everything was felt, life, heart. The body lost materiality, and all around was spirit. I think that ‘Other people’ stores the lucid desperation of the loss and celebrates disenchantment, declaring the legitimacy of a break. So the feeling while listening to this song is gently melancholy, and I can’t dance but only swing lightly, like a papyrus stem that oscillates but resists”.
“‘Tightrope’ was another exciting moment, for the first time I saw LP singing (and dancing) without Lauren (in Padua and Cattolica there were both), and every time I love red ribbons, referred to the visual representation on stage and more to the meaning. If “Muddy Waters” is the song of a journey to hell, where everything falls down, and the spiders of desperation colonize the mind by destroying the will, “Tightrope” is a hope of rise, a flying out in the morning of a change. How to get down to the abysses and go up to the stars in a matter of few minutes…”.
“During “Strange” I disclosed my wild behavior, and it was a cathartic experience. The lyric is so meaningful. I’m quite sure to interpret the meaning a bit too personally, but the subjective experience of the songs is a personal adventure that allows you to travel with your mind through unchanged landscape, and this is so liberating… “Levitator” is a magic song, a hymn to the acceptance of feelings… just realize and fall in love. I love the word “levitator”: levitator can make you rise into the air, and this song make you rise into the air too. LP performance was beautiful and heartbreaking”.
“With “Suspicion” I felt like the trembling of the leaves when the wind is almost undetectable, LP sang in a powerful and sensitive way at the same time. When it was time to “When We’re High” I danced like nobody is watching. During “Lost on you” – of course – I sang at the top of my voice… and everything became a collective experience. Hey, where were all these people before? … it seemed to me that there was only me and her!”.
“All the band is unforgettable, you guys were great tonight! You sent shivers down my spine! I lost the sense of time, but the time flew by… My journey to the top of the world finished before midnight, but not in my mind, not yet… I’m still in the memory hallucination… soo good… I’m still grasping with the sharp nails of the will the vivid memories, the sensations invade my present, which is canceled and immersed in the regenerating waters of a magical and surreal night … let me swim for a little more…because I’m still trying to put my memories in the jail of my mind, I would love to imprison each moment and throw away the key”.
And now, those few nice quotes that I found after LP’s concert, starting with Eleonora (@eleonora_coletta_): “Your voice is the best thing in the world. Thank you for last night, love you”. Giuly (@bitterg): “We are all strange, and it ain’t never ever never gonna change. The sailor mermaid ⚓️”. I love this quote on so many levels, mostly because of mermaids and their gorgeous voices that used to lead passing by sailors into temptation…. Chiara (@chiarabitter): “There aren’t words to describe this great voice ??”.
’’Don’t fail me now. Put your arms around me and pull me out.’’ Translation: “I have attended many concerts in my life and each of them has given me different emotions. But I would never have thought that LP would be able to make me feel one of those emotions that that will hardly be ever felt again. Deep, warm, particular, impressive, penetrating and even a bit odd.”
Andrea (@andreroyaldt): “LP superlativa ieri sera. Una voce pazzesca: Tecnica ineccepibile, timbro particolare, cambi di registro vocale perfetti, gorgeggi, i suoi inconfondibili fischiettii. Empatica e super carina Col pubblico. Bravissima davvero! Bel concerto! @iamlpofficial ❤️”. Translation: “superb last night. A crazy voice: Flawless technique, special timbre of voice, perfect vocal thrills, opera vocalizations, unmistakable whistles. Empathy and super cute with the public. Very good indeed! Nice concert!”.
