On October the 10th, during promo visit to Paris, LP has taken part in a special Taratata programme in aid of FRM – medical research foundation. It all started in September 2017, when Taratata celebrated 25 year anniversary at the Zénith de La Villette in the company of many artists. The entire proceeds from that evening were kindly donated to the Foundation for Medical Research. Founded 70 years ago, the Foundation for Medical Research (French: Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale) is engaged in all areas of medical research. Its ambition is to develop cutting-edge research at the service for everyone’s health. The fight against cancer is one of its priorities.
That’s why, this year, Nagui (an Egyptian-born French TV and radio personality of Egyptian and Italian descent) and Air Productions have decided to renew the special operation in aid of FRM Foundation and proposed this new & special Taratata show. In the programme, that took place at the Zenith in Paris, those who were lucky to purchase the tickets (all 5.000 seats quickly sold out), enjoyed more than 2 hours of live music with unique artistic encounters, previously unpublished duets and incredible covers.
During that evening we saw many! artists: Alain Chamfort, Alpha Blondy, Amandine Bourgeois, Amel Bent, Angèle, Antoine Elie, Boulevard Des Airs, Bénabar, Catherine Ringer, Cats On Trees, Charlie Winston, Chimène Badi, Clara Luciani, Claudio Capéo, Coeur de pirate, Corneille, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Eddy De Pretto, Féfé, Her, Hyphen Hyphen, Ibeyi, Ibrahim Maalouf, Jacob Banks, Jane Birkin, Jeanne Added, Jenifer, Joyce Jonathan, Julie Zenatti, Julien Clerc, Kassav, Kimberose, Leeroy, Marc Lavoine, Maurane, Michael Jones, Nolwenn Leroy, Pascal Obispo, Renan Luce, Salvatore Adamo, Shaka Ponk, Slimane, Synapson, Tim Dup, Vianney, Vitaa, Yael Naim, Zazie & of course LP!
LP sang a duet with Charlie Winston, they’ve chosen “Time After Time” (by Cyndi Lauper from her debut studio album). At that time Magali reported that “In fact Charlie had a technical problem with his guitar. They didn’t finished the song the first time. So they played it again…. like that we heard this song twice.” Charlie Winston, is an English singer-songwriter based in London. Winston has so far had his most significant commercial success in France. I am in love with that cover, they did a truly exceptional job. (LP without your voice world would have been a sad place…).
How they came up with that particular song? Courtesy of this special, ‘Behind the scenes’ video, we learnt that:
Charlie: When we first connected, on phone, LP was quick of the mark and she sent me loads of songs (LP: loads?! I thought that like one!). 3! (LP: oh 3!). Now, you sent 3 and I sent 1. I don’t know….
LP: But he came back with this song, and I was like “YES”, right away! The one and only song!
Charlie: We were looking for a kind of song, which had a good musical intention and which was like a good, big, meaty song, that people know and also, that suits our voices.
Charlie: We only met like 4 days ago, on FaceTime, the marvels of technology… But we’re generally quite happy people, that’s why it’s great to work with LP, cause when we connected online, there’s a nice happy vibe with us, you know, we never really give a shit! LP: yeah 🙂
Video of the event premiered last night, (27th October) via France2 Channel. For full video, click here. LP was guest of Taratata for the first time back in 2016, for videos of that performance & interview, click here.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
