Yesterday was another busy day for LP. It started with a press conference ahead of her performance at La Notte della Taranta. But first few words about the event – The Night of Tarantula is focused on Pizzica, a popular folk genre in Apulia, and it takes place in various municipalities in the province of Lecce and the Grecìa Salentina, especially in Melpignano. It gives great importance to the folk music tradition of Taranta and Pizzica.

And how LP was convinced to take part in it. Info comes from July’s press conference – for video click here. Translation courtesy of Grisu. The president of the event’s foundation from minute 1.51 says: “You all know the voice of LP, it’s extraordinary and she has already fallen in love with the popular music of Salento. We have made an effort, we have been courting her for months… I think (she’s) the most important (guest) in these 21 years of “Notte della taranta”.
A little more about how LP was convinced to take part in the festival: “We let her listen to our songs, that’s enough, she immediately started whistling … ‘pizzicarella’ … and she was amazed.” As for the choice of the pizzica song for LP, info from yesterday’s press conference. LP was approached by the event organizers when she was in Sicily and when they played her those songs for the first time, she felt very connected with such music because of her Italian origins.
Before the event, LP invited her Italian friend to her home who helped her with the language and it ignited her desire to learn Italian. It was also very emotional for LP as she has never spoke so much of this language in her entire life. After the press conference LP and her manager Zsuzsa had a tiny bit time for sightseeing. In the evening LP took part in a dress rehearsal before the event that will take place later tonight, starting at 22.30. Reminder it will be broadcast live via Rai 5 TV.

During the rehearsal LP presented the pizzica songs that were chosen for tonight – LP will sing Vorrei Volare, Pizzicarella mia (Pizzica tarantata) – Pugliese folk song & especially rearranged ‘Lost On You’ in theme with the event. I will try to find some info about the roots of those folk songs. Italian fanclub was present for the rehearsal (as it was open for the public) and recorded all three songs. You will find those at their Youtube channel, click here.

On a very personal note… I wanted to thank everyone from LP fans family who supported me in this really hard time, who donated the money and reached out to me. I appreciate it a lot. Pola fighted bravely, but she couldn’t handle the stress anymore… I am very grateful for the time we spent together. You will be missed terribly.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
