I was aware of this event since Lauren Ruth Ward was announced as one of the artists performing and I knew there would be a special surprise guest, but wasn’t sure for certain who it would be, until last night and seeing first insta-stories showing LP with her uke on the stage.

But first, few words about the event & story behind it. Desert Nights is a weekly gathering at The Standard venue in Hollywood, hosted by KCRW’s DJ Valida. Every Wednesday, Valida curates two acoustic musical acts to perform unplugged in the Cactus Lounge.

The vibe is warm and intimate, evoking an impromptu jam in a musician’s living room. The event is always free. This past Wednesday Desert Nights turned 8 years old & they were celebrating with an homage to WOODSTOCK on the day that the legendary festival kicked off.

Invited artists including LP, Lauren Ruth Ward, The Blank Tapes, Dwight Trible, Johnathan Rice, Rachel Goodrich, Farmer Dave, Lauren Barth, Desi Valentine, Chloe Fuller, Tawny Ellis, Knox White & Evan Hatfield provided some of the most memorable performances of this landmark festival.
I will write more about Lauren Ruth Ward’s performance as Janis Joplin at my blog dedicated to her – you will find it here. I have decided to create a website for Lauren as I’ve been a huge fan of hers for a long time but didn’t have a place to share my thoughts & feelings about her music and now I have!

But back to LP, as mentioned earlier, she was a surprise guest, performing Jefferson Airplane’s cover titled “Somebody to Love”. It was just LP and her uke plus additional sounds of sleigh bells provided by event’s host Valida. And as always LP nailed it! She sounded truly awesome!
The video above is courtesy of @maiahmanser shared via Insta-story but I might have a full performance for you later on. For now, as you can see, I don’t have any pics of the performance (yet), as it was a very intimate event, but i will be updating my post if anything will pop up!

And in other exciting news, LP’s “Girls Go Wild” single & video comes tomorrow! Well, most likely technically today late at night. You can already pre-order the single on iTunes (I believe only in Russia for now), where you will also find a snippet of the song. I will write more about the release in the next blog post once the song will be officially out! Until then!
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
