Following the inaugural success of The Park Show in 2018, the event returned to Jonathan Rogers Park last night. It was produced by Live Nation and Blueprint Live as a finale to the Vancouver Mural Festival, and featured performances by the one and only LP, electronic instrumentalists BadBadNotGood and Canadian Indigenous artist iskwē.
Also, the local Vancouver legend MY!GAY!HUSBAND was DJ’ing throughout the show. Focused on cultivating acceptance and diversity within the community, The Park Show has once again been curated as an inclusive, family-friendly event and has aligned itself with the Vancouver Mural Festival’s ongoing celebration of public art and culture.
The Park Show is produced on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlil̓wətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. I will have a proper review of LP’s show once my British Columbia correspondent will be able to write his thoughts, so for now here are the few quotes that I was able to find.
@4philmartin: “LP at VanMuralFest Park Show. This was incredible. Where were you, Vancouver?” @yazapapa: “Holy actual shit; Eliza and Odin with their musical hero LP – couldn’t have asked for a better superstar. You can meet rockstars, but not one that cares enough to dish out hugs and high fives along with searing vocals and epic lyrics. We love you LP!”
@rhiannaroz: “Uh yeah so LP killed it again tonight and I can’t wait to see her again and again.” @sammietan: “Second time this year paying to see LP – I am not mad about this <insert most impressive whistling ever>.” @k.huygh: “Standing only feet from LP — life complete. Thank you. Keeping thinking about what to write here — no words. So good.”

@painted_hair_gypsy: “LP you were amazing!! Thank you for blessing our ears.” @koolkurly: “LP at Vancouver Mural Festival. Another awesome live performance.” @cronjefiona: “LP at The Park Vancouver – blessed to have been able to experience this live.” @ruby_road_warrior: “Dearest Vancity, sometimes the best thing about travelling is getting to come home and spend time with your favourite band of weirdos.”
“Thanks LP for an incredible show and for making my daughter’s first music festival a night they’ll never forget. I’m pretty sure everyone who was at Van Mural Fest will be in a collective swoon for the next few days. Looking forward to the next time you whistle your way back to raincity. It’s true what they say, that all roads lead to home, and I’m grateful that mine has finally lead me back here.”
Clearly, LP has won her Canadian audience once again! Not that I have ever doubted in her 🙂 I mean, LP is THE best of the best. That’s all for now folks, but longer review is in the making, I promise! LP has another festival ahead of her, she will perform on the 31st August at the Fisher Green Stage of the Bumbershoot Festival at Seattle Center.

Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
