Third night in UK, and our tirelss reporter, Bekki Milner, has already sent in her account of yesterday’s show! @spookymilner: “Oh Birmingham you were beautiful last night. I have such a love hate relationship with my city, but last night you made me proud. The Institute hosted LP in November 2017s Lost in UK tour.”
“This time round there were faces in the crowd I recognised, from local clubs or other gigs I’d been to in the past, and that was pretty cool. We were blessed with VIP and despite entry for this being late (reason is unknown) we weren’t rushed or anything. In fact, we had way more time than we even expected, and LP was as gracious and kind as ever.”
“Like the star she is, she took her time with us and left us all feeling loved, which she does so easily. The show from Powers became extra special tonight due to an audio failure that plunged them into finishing Heavy /Another one Bites the Dust semi acoustically. We were then treated to Loved by You with simple electric guitar from Mike.”
“It was an amazing, raw, beautiful performance, and I’m so glad I got to see it! It must be hard as musicians when there’s some kind of failure but they dealt with it and carried on and it was amazing. Birmingham is my home town (OK near enough I’m about 30 minutes out) and tonight every song LP played hitting the heartstrings.”
“It was my 7th show in this stretch of the tour and it never gets dull. In fact it only gets better, as you have time to realise the little musical transitions, twists and trinkets with each song. It really is a well thought out show, not just a set list of fan favourites but a musical landscape through which LP leads us.”
“The orchestration is so smooth, and the band really look like they enjoy playing it and playing together. Someone asked me at the start of tour is it as good as the Lost in UK, and at first I said it was about the same. That’s changed, as while I love the classics we all love to hear, Heart to Mouth is really a peice of art in its own right.”
“I’m sad our little tour is almost over. Its been such a wonderful time with so many wonderful people, I don’t know what I’m going to do after the Glasgow show on Thursday. I thought it couldn’t get any better than the Lost in UK tour, but this has surpassed even that. Such love and beauty we’ve all been shown these past few weeks, our lives are surely changed forever.”
Bekki, it’s always a pleasure to quote you on my blog! And few more words by LP fans collected from Instagram. @lemonvamp: “met and saw this icon live last night! thank u for a great time.” @paulsolecki: “Such an amazing voice!” @julia_samartzis: “My god that woman can sing!… LP.” @iamecurly: “Stunning LP… what a great night in Birmingham at O2 Insttute.”
@anitsirch197: “And another epic Night is over! LP you are the best! How do you do it? Your energy is blowing me away! Thank you so much! You are a gift from God to me! Love you!” @ruxact: “You two lit my soul in the last three days. I’m gonna keep it shining till I see you and feel your souls again. Thank you!” @lpukofficial: The fantastic incredible LP. Where does that voice come from?? Thank you so much for yesterday.”
I wanted also to include this lovely quote about Powers duo by @lillybocheux: “In life, there unique, incredible and magical meetings. Thank you both for those amazing first part! You are exceptional on stage. It’s a real pleasure to hear you and see you having fun on stage. Thanks for your time and your patience. Your smiles, your good vibes was a sincere pleasure.”
One quote from Manchester concert on the 18th May at the o2 Ritz by @stickytoffeejazz: “Damn I do love a powerful voice. A voice that will mess you up, just enough… Last night was like a gripping book and damn when the last page came I sure didn’t want it to end… Until the next one ‘Ciao Ciao’. Lost on You.”
And one more from Milano, by @siras_174: “LP, I heard your voice for the first time in 2016; I immediately loved you, so deep, special and powerful but for some reason I didn’t follow your work right away and I ended up missing not only new songs and albums but also many opportunities to see you live and meet you.”
“Finally months ago “Recovery” appeared on my youtube feed and I couldn’t believe my ears and eyes: I rediscovered you, the impact you had on me was mind-blowing. Since then I’ve listened to every song, from the 10 years old ones to the newest, I watched tons of videos and interviews and I started to admire and respect you more and more.”
“When I found out about the concert in Italy I was over the moon; I waited outside the venue from 8.30AM, it was so worth it, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. A unique voice, a unique person. Thank you for being who you are.” Today LP has a day off, then two more shows, one in Dublin and last one Glasgow, where she will finish her European tour.
Anna from Poland. I have been a blogger for a long time, but more in a royal field. Since 'meeting' LP through her music and as a person, a lot has changed. If I'm not working on my blog, I work as a teacher. I love to travel, read & dance. I sing & play uke when no one listens. Music was always a big part of my life.
